An association of retired Dutch businessmen and professionals chose Bratislava as the destination for its annual trip, and Enjoy Slovakia DMC was entrusted with preparing an enjoyable long weekend for its members in October. On their first night our guests enjoyed a performance of the opera Aida at the New Building of the Slovak National Theater, followed by dinner at the restaurant of the nearby five-star hotel. The next morning, which was blessed with sunny weather, we provided a relaxed tour, including a coffee break with typical local pastries – strudel, Sachertorte and Bratislava rolls. In the afternoon we cruised down the Danube to visit the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum.
We wanted to provide something special, so we arranged for a string quartet to perform a private concert for the guests in one of Bratislava’s palaces, which was followed by dinner served in the courtyard of another palace. The final day of the trip was spent in the countryside of the Small Carpathian wine region, which was a real revelation to our guests as they would had never guessed how well established wine culture is in Slovakia. And they certainly enjoyed our excellent wine – the fine white-wine varieties, in particular, were highly appreciated. The guests’ visit to majestic Cerveny Kamen Castle, with its rich collections of historical furniture and weapons, was a highlight of the day.
